Dr. R.R. Sinha Memorial Hospital

ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

  1. The Intensive or Critical Care Units (ICU's) at MCSCMS are specialist hospital wards that provide intensive treatment and monitoring for people in a critically ill or unstable condition.
  2. An Intensive Care Unit(ICU) , also known as an intensive therapy unit or intensive treatment unit(ITU)(ITU) or critical care unit(CCU) , is a special department of a hospital or health care facility that provides intensive care medicine.
  3. Intensive care units cater to patients with the most severe and life-threatening illness and injuries, which require constant, close invasive monitoring and support from specialist equipment and medication in order to ensure normal bodily functions. They are staffed by highly trained doctors and critical care nurses who specialize in caring for seriously ill patients.
  4. Patients may be transferred directly to an intensive care unit from an emergency department if required, or from a ward if they rapidly deteriorate, or immedia.
